Mission, Vision, Values

Mission

Hosea’s Heart exists to empower the girls of Swaziland to achieve freedom from sexual abuse and hope for a better future by serving their physical, emotional and spiritual needs through a holistic, restorative process.

Vision

Through counseling, education, and the anointing of Christ, the girls in our immediate care will be holistically healed to rebuild, renew, and restore their communities.

“They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.” -Isaiah 61:4

Values

As an unwavering oak stands firmly on the roots which bring it nourishment, so we are rooted in the foundations of our Christian faith. We view prayer as a way to deepen our roots, reminding ourselves that Christ holds and surrounds us as we look to Him for guidance. Using the principles of our faith to direct our every decision and action, we seek to be clearly set apart though not “set above” any person- no better than any other.

Recognizing that each individual is a uniquely created “Child of God” coming from a wide variety of backgrounds and stories, we show through our words and actions that she is worth it all- worth every second, every penny, every tear- everything it costs to provide what she needs. Whether through our stateside donors or our missionaries in the field, we seek to reflect the same sacrificial love that Jesus gave with the utmost compassion, love, and respect.

Every person has a dream- without vision we perish. We seek to restore hope because it gives life. Through a holistic provision of needs, we shed light on a renewed purpose for living. Through a relentless and ceaseless effort of imagining and reimagining the future, each woman is redeeming, reclaiming, and reviving her dreams.

Hosea’s Heart has supporters and volunteers from around the world contributing a variety of talents, resources, and experiences. We especially desire local partnerships within Swaziland and welcome those around the globe to join us, however, we expect volunteers to lay aside their own egos to unite with a respect for others. As an organization driven by volunteers we seek individuals that first engage personal connection, do not offend easily and enjoy acknowledging the contributions of others. We cannot stand under one umbrella if we all hold our own.

We use clarity to develop trust by making our financial records easily accessible. Our work is not always simple, however, we want partners to understand the cause they support. We are not afraid of being approached with questions because we do not have walls or secrets. The only information we withhold is for the safety of the girls in our care.

We steward the gracious gifts of our partners and hold ourselves accountable for using resources wisely. We push ourselves to think innovatively to decrease administrative costs nonetheless keeping high standards of excellence in our work. This means we embrace change, investigate options, and analyze results to propel growth.

Our Pillars: Renew, Rebuild, Restore

Renewing the Faith

“I say to God my Rock, Why have You forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?”
-Psalm 42:9

For women who have been abused and forsaken, it is imperative that we renew their trust in God. We serve a God who does not abandon but relentlessly pursues His creation. This renewal of broken trust in God is the cornerstone of healing, restoration, and new life; and it is the center of our mission. Through Scripture-based study, discussion, teaching, and sharing, Hosea’s Heart seeks to facilitate healing for the girls in our home.

Rebuilding the Ruins

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release for the prisoners… to comfort all who mourn, and provide for them… to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes.”
-Isaiah 61:1-3

As the Lord called Isaiah, so He has called Hosea’s Heart to rebuild the broken hearts and the ruined hopes of the girls of Swaziland. The physical rebuilding of a renovated home lays the foundation for the mission of taking the ruined remains of joys and dreams to rebuild them into something promising and beautiful.

Restoring a Future of Hope

“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, leads me beside quiet waters, and restores my soul.”
-Psalm 23:1-3

Restoration of the soul is what every girl who has been used, abused, and broken really needs, and it is what Hosea’s Heart ultimately provides as hands humbly used by God. Through education, skills building, and, most importantly, fostering a relationship with Jehova-Raah, the Lord our Shepherd, Hosea’s Heart gives the girls of Swaziland a chance to envision a bright future, where they are capable and worthy of success. This hope cannot be achieved, however, without your hands and contributions!

“Please, make me something,” rings the cry of a young woman in eSwatini, Africa. Her plea is one of an entire gender and generation of girls exploited, left behind, and forgotten. Our non-profit organization, Hosea’s Heart, answers this call through our mission “to empower the girls of Swaziland to achieve freedom from sexual abuse and hope for a better future.”

Who is Hosea?

Hosea is a prophet in the Old Testament whom God commanded to pursue and marry a prostitute as a reflection of God’s passionate love for His beloved children and pursuit of Israel. This biblical story is brought to life in Francine Rivers’ brilliant novel called Redeeming Love, articulating the heart and mission of a man who pursued a prostitute with great passion, zeal, and resolve. The message of Redeeming Love parallels the foundation of Hosea’s Heart in such a perfectly beautiful way. Built upon Hosea’s unselfish love to pursue an unfaithful wife, Hosea’s Heart embodies this same love by pursuing the abused and at risk girls in Swaziland, offering them opportunities to seize freedom and a reason to hope.

Help us take up the heart of Hosea in passionate pursuit of the broken and hopeless to bring them to a place of hope and healing.
