In June, 2021, Eswatini was labeled the “rape capital” of all of southern Africa. But these aren’t stats. These are their stories.
Her small body has many untold stories. She was eight years old when she was placed in our care. Before then, she slept on the streets at night next to her intoxicated mother, or in a squatter camp notorious for prostitution, trafficking, and sexual violence. When she was taken to a doctor by a social worker, her hair was unclean and her body was weak and diseased. Two weeks after her placement with Hosea’s Heart, she returned to the clinic. The doctor didn’t even recognize her. He was shocked by the miraculous change in her health, as life had returned to her eyes. With tears, he said, “Whatever you are doing for these girls, never stop!”
The total cost of comprehensive quality care for one girl in eSwatini is $450 per month. This investment covers every aspect of her growth, including housing, education, counseling, safety, life skills, belonging, nutrition, and enrichment programs. Through our partnership tiers, you can choose the area of impact that means the most to you, whether that’s building community through sports and the arts, supporting holistic counseling and spiritual restorative care, meeting daily needs for food and shelter, empowering education, or sustaining all four as a Legacy Partner.
